Ratan
(?-1341)
One of the Hindu members of the Tughlaq adminis-trative class belonging to the caste of Kayasthas and who was known for his skill in "calculation and writing." He was entrusted by Muhammad bin Tughlaq (1325-1351) with the local administration of Sind. Around 1341, Ratan was raised to the position of the muqti' but a military officer stationed in Sind, taking advantage of a revolt by Unar, a chief of the Sumra tribe, killed him.
